A 41‑year‑old Greenwood resident Michael C. Boston was shot and killed Wednesday night following an argument about missing laundry, according to South Carolina authorities. Police said they were called to the 800 block of South Main Street shortly after 11 p.m., where officers found Boston suffering from a gunshot wound before he was transported for emergency treatment.
Boston was taken to the emergency room at Self Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:37 p.m., the Greenwood County Coroner’s Office reported. Officials confirmed his death as a homicide and noted that no other injuries were reported in connection with the shooting.
Investigators determined that the confrontation began in a communal laundry room at a Greenwood apartment complex, where Boston and a female neighbor argued over missing clothing. Police said the dispute escalated into violence during the late‑night altercation.
According to Greenwood police, 24‑year‑old Breosche Floyd retrieved a handgun during the argument and shot Boston. Officers arriving at the scene found him in the hallway of the building before EMS transported him to the hospital.
Floyd was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. She was booked into the Greenwood County Detention Center, where bond was denied on both charges, according to jail records cited by investigators.
