It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mitzi Mcminn Flournoy, a cherished 57-year-old resident of Anacortes, Washington whose life was tragically cut short in a domestic incident on March 10, 2026. At approximately 6:24 a.m. Anacortes Police Department officers responded to a reported gunshot-related call in the 1400 block of K Avenue.
Upon arrival they discovered Mitzi and a 61 year old man deceased from apparent gunshot wounds inside the residence. Police have confirmed the incident as a likely murder-suicide with the man believed to have shot Mitzi before taking his own life.
Other occupants in the home were found unharmed and the investigation by Anacortes police remains active as authorities piece together the events of that early morning. The shocking violence in this normally peaceful neighborhood has left the Skagit County community reeling with neighbors expressing disbelief and sorrow over the sudden loss of such a well-regarded resident. Mitzi’s home on K Avenue had long been a place of warmth and connection for family and friends who now gather in shared grief.
