The community of Bernville, Pennsylvania, is mourning the loss of Eric Schultz, who passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2025, at the age of 52. His sudden departure has left a profound sense of loss in Berks County, where he was deeply valued for his quiet strength and generous spirit.
A native of nearby Leesport, Eric was a graduate of Governor Mifflin High School and Reading Area Community College. He spent more than 25 years as a commercial loan officer at a local credit union, where he was particularly dedicated to supporting agricultural and family-run businesses across the region.
Eric was a familiar and cherished presence at The Deal Room, a networking space in Reading where he often volunteered his time mentoring entrepreneurs and small business owners. His thoughtful advice and genuine encouragement helped many in the community pursue their dreams.
At home, Eric was a devoted husband to his wife of 28 years, Laura, and a loving father to his children, Emily and Jacob. He cherished family time, whether gathered around the kitchen table or working together in his backyard workshop, where he shared his passion for woodworking and the value of perseverance.
An avid outdoorsman, Eric enjoyed hiking along the Appalachian Trail, fly-fishing on Tulpehocken Creek, and restoring vintage bicycles for local youth programs. He also took pride in brewing small-batch craft beer, which he generously shared at neighborhood gatherings.
A celebration of Eric’s life will be held on December 10, 2025, at St. Thomas Church in Bernville, followed by a reception at the Bernville Community Fire Company. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions to the mentorship fund at The Deal Room, ensuring Eric’s legacy of support and encouragement lives on.
