A 35‑year‑old Cody Marston of Spring Lake died early Sunday, May 3, 2026, after a motorcycle crash on State Road west of 136th Avenue in Crockery Township, Ottawa County, Michigan, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were dispatched just before 12:30 a.m. after reports of a serious collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck.
Investigators determined that Marston had been traveling westbound on State Road when a pickup truck driven by a 39‑year‑old Kalamazoo man, with two passengers inside, began backing out of a private driveway and entering the roadway. The truck was moving into the westbound lane at the same time Marston approached.
Authorities reported that Marston attempted to pass the truck on the right side as it entered the roadway. During this maneuver, his motorcycle struck the front corner of the pickup, causing a violent impact that threw him from the bike. The collision left debris scattered across the roadway as first responders arrived.
Emergency personnel immediately began life‑saving efforts upon finding Marston lying in the roadway with severe injuries. Despite rapid intervention, officials confirmed that he died at the scene due to the extent of the trauma sustained in the crash. No one in the pickup truck was injured.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office temporarily closed the section of State Road while crash reconstruction teams documented evidence, including vehicle positions, impact points, and roadway conditions. The area was reopened after investigators completed their on‑scene analysis.
