On Friday, April 10, 2026, Adam Jacob Appelbaum, 30, of Bedford, Massachusetts, tragically died in a motorcycle accident. His family, friends, and everyone who knew him are in deep mourning as they consider his colorful life, which was full of talent, warmth, and an infectious enthusiasm that touched everyone around him.
The cherished son of Joel and Susan (Charnow) Appelbaum, he was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and grew up in Bedford, where he proudly graduated from Bedford High School. He then went to Union College in New York to earn bachelor’s degrees in computer science, economics, and German, setting the stage for a life motivated by ambition and curiosity.
Adam followed his passion for technology and developed a prosperous career as an IT engineer, gaining a reputation for exceptional skill and confidence as he tackled the most difficult technical problems with innate talent, tenacity, and a sharp mind that made him the go-to person for solutions others found intimidating.
Outside of work, he was an enthusiastic and creative person who enjoyed building his own computers, customizing his car and motorcycle to fit his own style, playing guitar and performing with his band McKenna Overdrive, and immersing himself in Dungeons & Dragons campaigns where he painted and customized collectibles. He also loved snowboarding in the winter and disc golf in the summer.
A true hands-on individual with a vivid imagination and contagious energy, Adam treasured time with his family above all, happiest at home at the grill preparing specialties like a perfectly cooked Delmonico steak or Australian Wagyu to share with loved ones and anyone who stopped by, while also cherishing travel to places around the globe and his two meaningful trips to Israel that reflected his deep connection to his Jewish heritage.
He will be eternally loved and remembered by his parents Joel and Susan Appelbaum of Bedford, his brother David Appelbaum and fiancée Brianna Phipps of Nashua, New Hampshire, his niece Priscilla Appelbaum, his adoring dog Luna, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whose lives he brightened with generosity, warmth, and unwavering support, a legacy that continues to comfort the Bedford community as they hold tightly to the cherished memories of his vibrant spirit.
