With deep regret, we announce the passing of Valentín Morales, an 18-year-old who had just celebrated his birthday the month prior, tragically losing his life on April 26, 2026, in Yuma, Arizona. On Sunday evening at approximately 7:48 p.m., Yuma Police officers responded to a “shots fired” call in the 500 block of S. 15th Avenue.
Upon arrival, they found the young man unresponsive on the ground and immediately began life-saving measures before transporting him to Onvida Health, where he later succumbed to his injuries from a single gunshot wound.
The initial investigation revealed that a white 4-door sedan entered the area, fired multiple rounds, and then fled southbound on 15th Avenue. One of the bullets struck Valentín Morales. Witnesses reported seeing at least three male subjects inside the vehicle, described as Black or Hispanic. Yuma Police have classified the case as a homicide and are actively searching for the suspects while urging anyone with information to come forward.
His family shared that Valentín was a lovable kid filled with plans and hopes for the future. He loved to eat, enjoyed listening to music, and always brought a smile to those around him with his cheerful presence. The sudden and violent nature of his death has left his loved ones heartbroken and struggling to come to terms with the immense loss of such a promising young life in the Yuma community.
