The fatal shooting occurred at a home in the 1800 block of McIlwraith Street, where Zeke was struck by gunfire. Muskegon police responded quickly, but he could not be saved. His sister described him as a bright light who was unashamedly himself, bringing warmth even in difficult times.
Zeke’s educational journey began at Southwood High School in Wabash, Indiana, where he graduated in 2016. He continued his studies at Indiana University Bloomington, demonstrating a commitment to academic excellence and personal growth. Later, he earned an associate degree in social work from Ivy Tech, reflecting his deep desire to serve vulnerable populations and make a positive impact in his community.
After completing his education, Zeke moved to Michigan, where he began working for Indigrow in Muskegon. In this role, he applied his social work background to support individuals facing challenges, bringing patience and understanding to his daily interactions. Colleagues remember him for his kindness and professionalism, noting how his presence brought comfort to those he served.
The family is mourning the incomprehensible tragedy while cooperating with authorities. Dominic Pearcy, 26, of Muskegon, has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting, and surveillance footage reportedly captured him leaving the scene. The investigation by Muskegon police remains active as the community processes this heartbreaking loss in the Norton Shores and Muskegon area.
Funeral services for Zeke will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, located at 1241 Manchester Avenue in Wabash, Indiana. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service, allowing loved ones to pay their respects and share memories. Burial will follow in Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash, providing a final resting place in the community where he grew up. These arrangements offer a structured opportunity for communal mourning and tribute in his hometown.
