Sarah Lynn Ruffi of Wausau, Wisconsin, a respected attorney and dedicated community advocate whose impact touched countless lives through her legal practice and volunteer service, passed away on March 28, 2026, at the age of 57 after a courageous battle with stage 4 glioblastoma that began with her diagnosis in July 2025.
A practicing attorney for more than 20 years at Ruffi Law Offices in Wausau, she specialized in business law, litigation, contracts, and landlord tenant matters while earning a reputation for her professionalism and commitment to her clients and the broader legal community in Marathon County.
Deeply involved in local organizations, Sarah served as president and longtime board member of the Wausau Kiwanis Club for over 25 years, contributed to the Wausau Chamber of Commerce, YWCA, South Area Business Association, Northcentral Technical College advisory committee, Marathon County Bar, and Wausau West Side Business Association, and played a role in initiatives such as the Wausau Mobile Youth Vendor Permit and 2025 Central Wisconsin Hurricane Helene relief efforts.
She also gave generously of her time as an instructor for Junior Achievement programs in Wausau schools and at Upper Iowa University, always finding ways to support education and community development alongside her professional responsibilities.
During her illness Sarah maintained her spirit of service by using her Woman Warrior Lawyer Facebook page to share updates on her journey, answer questions from others facing brain cancer, offer hope, and express gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and support that sustained her and inspired many.
In recognition of her extraordinary contributions, Wausau Mayor Doug Diny proclaimed March 31, 2026, her 58th birthday, as Sarah Ruffi Day, honoring the profound difference she made through volunteer work and her steadfast presence in the community she loved.
