Milton Earl Cunningham, 78, whose life was defined by faith, generosity, and devotion to family, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, in Bryan, Texas. His legacy endures in the countless lives he touched through service, mentorship, and quiet acts of kindness.
A lifelong resident of Bryan, Mr. Cunningham graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School before proudly serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, where he earned commendations for dedication and calm under pressure.
Upon returning home, he built a respected career as a master electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 520, mentoring apprentices for more than 45 years and wiring many of the city’s schools and businesses.
Family was the center of Mr. Cunningham’s world. He and his beloved wife of 55 years raised three children and delighted in spoiling eight grandchildren with fishing trips and homemade ice cream on the porch of their longtime home on East 29th Street. Sundays were reserved for worship at New Life Church of God, where he served as a deacon and led the men’s prayer breakfast for over two decades.
In his free time, Mr. Cunningham pursued passions that reflected his patient nature: tending a bountiful vegetable garden that supplied neighbors each summer, restoring vintage Ford trucks in his garage, and coaching youth baseball at Henderson Park during the 1980s and 1990s.
Mr. Cunningham’s quiet generosity touched countless lives, from anonymously covering utility bills for struggling families to organizing church outreach during holidays. Friends recall his easy laugh and the way he made every person feel valued with a firm handshake and sincere interest in their day. His legacy of integrity and compassion remains a guiding example throughout Bryan.
A celebration of Mr. Cunningham’s life will take place on December 6, 2025, at New Life Church of God in Bryan, where family and friends will gather to honor a man who lived humbly yet impacted profoundly. Though he has gone home at 78, his warmth, faith, and love continue to light the paths of all who were blessed to know him.
