Mary Jeanne Lang (1958-2026) – Cherished Mother from Peoria, Illinois, Has Died Peacefully

A beloved presence in the hearts of many, Mary Jeanne Lang will always be remembered for her warmth, curiosity, and the joy she brought to those around her. She passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the age of 67, at The University of Chicago Medicine Hospital, leaving behind treasured memories and a legacy of love.

Mary was born in Peoria on December 13, 1958. Her parents were Frank and Jeanne (Waninger) Lang. She was raised in a loving family and neighborhood and graduated from Bergan High School in 1976. Her journey was defined and those who knew her were inspired by her spirit of exploration and sincere respect for the planet.

One of Mary’s favorite things to do was travel. She particularly treasured the time she spent traveling to places like Greece, London, Italy, and cruising with her sister Amy. These travels were more than just excursions; they were chances to make enduring memories of joy, exploration, and camaraderie.

Her mother, Jeanne Lang of Peoria Heights; sister, Amy Lang of Chicago; niece, Amanda Carmichael of Denver, Colorado; and devoted four-legged friend, Arlo, all survive her. They all preserve her memory and the love and compassion she had throughout her life.

Her brothers, Eric and Dave Lang, as well as her father, Frank Lang, passed away before Mary. Her family and friends find solace in the knowledge that her soul endures in the tales, memories, and relationships she forged, even if her absence is greatly missed.

Wright & Salmon Mortuary will have a visitation on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. On Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM, St. Thomas Catholic Church will host a Mass of Christian Burial. Thirty minutes before the ceremony, there will be a viewing. Mary will be buried at West Peoria’s St. Mary Cemetery under the officiation of Father Leopold Mushobozi. Everyone who had the good fortune to know her will continue to be inspired by her life, which was full of love and adventure.
