On December 3, 2025, the Chicago community lost a beloved mentor and coach with the sudden passing of Kelly Peaurt. A dedicated figure within the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), Kelly’s unexpected death has brought deep sorrow to countless families, players, and colleagues across the city.
A graduate of DePaul University with a degree in physical education, Kelly dedicated over 20 years to coaching girls’ under-12 soccer teams through AYSO Chicago. Her creative drills, motivational approach, and genuine care helped shape not only skilled players but also confident young individuals. Many of her athletes went on to earn scholarships, a testament to her impactful mentorship both on and off the field.
Kelly’s commitment extended beyond the soccer pitch. She was a devoted wife and mother of three teenagers, and her Lincoln Park home was often filled with the laughter of players and families gathered for post-game barbecues. Together with her husband, she fostered a warm, community-centered environment, organizing team retreats and encouraging a spirit of togetherness among players and parents alike.
Outside of coaching, Kelly lived an active and engaged life. She enjoyed running along Lake Shore Drive, volunteering at local urban gardens, and practicing photography—often creating personalized season yearbooks for her teams.
She believed in holistic wellness, even leading yoga sessions for parents during practices. Kelly also loved exploring Chicago’s cultural offerings, from symphony performances to local bookstores, and was known for her skill in baking custom soccer-themed cakes for every celebration.
Kelly Peaurt’s legacy is one of encouragement, empathy, and joy. Though her time was cut short, the lessons she taught about teamwork, resilience, and kindness continue to resonate throughout the Chicago soccer community. In her memory, families and friends are committed to supporting AYSO initiatives, ensuring that her positive influence endures for generations to come.
