Keishla Claudio, 33, Hartford Woman Found Dead at a Murder Scene on Friday

A Hartford woman, 33-year-old Keishla Claudio, was found dead inside her Belden Street residence on Friday night in what police have identified as a domestic violence murder. Officers were called to 62 Belden Street around 9:30 p.m. on April 24 after receiving a report of an unresponsive woman. When they arrived, they found Claudio inside the home and pronounced her dead at the scene.

The Hartford Police Department later confirmed that Claudio had been killed by a gunshot wound. Investigators quickly identified a former girlfriend as the person of interest in the case. Police said the killing appeared to be targeted and domestic in nature.

As detectives worked to locate the suspect, they learned that she had left the state shortly after the shooting. Authorities later confirmed that the woman was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in another state. Her death effectively closed the active search but did not lessen the shock felt by the community.

Family members described Keishla as a loving and caring person who always made time for her siblings and her children. A fundraiser created by her mother said she loved working with kids and brought joy to the people around her. The family is now left to cope with the sudden loss while also arranging funeral services and support for her children.

Hartford police classified the case as a domestic violence related murder suicide. They have not released additional details about what may have led to the shooting, noting only that the investigation remains open for any supplemental information that may help clarify the events leading up to Claudio’s death.

Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact the Hartford Police Tip Line at 860-722-8477. Community members have expressed grief and frustration over another life lost to domestic violence, and local advocates continue to call for stronger support systems for victims in similar situations.
