With deep regret, we announce the passing of Dwayne John Adams, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and longtime business leader in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, who died peacefully at Kootenai Health surrounded by the love of his family and God’s gentle grace. Known affectionately as John, he was a bighearted man with a quick wit and a joke for nearly every occasion.
John moved with his family to Coeur d’Alene at a young age. He attended Bryan Elementary, graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School, and later became Student Body President at North Idaho College (1959-1960). He went on to earn his college degree from Montana State University. These formative years helped shape the dedicated and community-minded man he would become.
John started working at the family company, Coeur d’Alene Tractor, with his father, Jack Adams, when he was 27 years old. He subsequently became President and CEO, adeptly leading the business through difficult financial times. The company prospered under his direction, growing to five Adams Tractor stores and establishing itself as a mainstay of agricultural services in the area.
John’s life was defined by his deep love for family and his commitment to the community he called home. He found joy in simple moments, shared laughter freely, and offered support to those around him. His humor, kindness, and steady presence made him a beloved figure to generations of family, friends, employees, and customers.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Yates Funeral Home – Coeur d’Alene Chapel, located at 744 N. 4th St. in Coeur d’Alene. This time of remembrance will allow family, friends, and community members to gather, share stories, and honor a life well lived.
Dwayne John Adams will be remembered as a devoted family man, respected business leader, and warm-hearted individual whose humor, integrity, and service left a lasting legacy in Coeur d’Alene and beyond. Though he is gone, the laughter he shared, the business he built, and the love he gave will continue to echo through the lives of all who knew and cherished him.
