With deep regret, we announce the passing of Robert George Adams Jr., 67, of Bristol, Virginia, who died on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. A man of faith, music, and quiet enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures, Robert lived a full life marked by loyalty to family, love of sports, and a deep appreciation for worship and community.
Robert spent the most of his life in Maryland, where he was born and raised, until relocating to the Bristol region some 20 years ago. He made acquaintances and actively participated in leisure activities, swiftly integrating himself into the community. He loved participating in many bowling and softball leagues, where his genial disposition and competitive energy made him a popular opponent and teammate.
Robert had a genuine passion for music. He played the saxophone in church worship groups, bringing joy and spiritual depth to services. He also loved listening to classic rock and remained a dedicated Baltimore Ravens fan throughout his life. Above all, his faith in God remained a central and guiding force.
Those who knew him described a man who found happiness in everyday moments — whether on the field, with family, or in moments of worship. His move to Virginia allowed him to enjoy a slower pace while staying connected to the things and people he cherished most.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Garrett Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tracy Newman officiating.
Robert George Adams Jr. will be remembered as a faithful man who loved his family, enjoyed sports and music, and lived with a quiet strength rooted in his relationship with God. Though he is gone, the melodies he played, the games he enjoyed, and the love he shared will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
