He was declared dead at the location, his death later attributed by officials to injuries sustained from the gunfire.
According to initial reports, the chain of events was set in motion when Goodman’s adolescent daughter, employed at the eatery, contacted her father regarding alleged mistreatment by her direct supervisor.
In response, Goodman traveled to the premises to confront the individual. A verbal dispute ensued and intensified rapidly, culminating when the manager purportedly emerged from his automobile and discharged a firearm multiple times, mortally wounding Goodman.
Law enforcement personnel detained the suspect at the scene. He has been identified as Maurice Nolan Evans, a 25-year-old Forest Park resident and the acting manager of the Bojangles outlet, who is said to have acknowledged his involvement. Evans is now formally charged with murder, aggravated assault, and the felony use of a firearm. Following a waiver of his first scheduled court hearing, he is being held without bond in Fulton County Jail.
Professionally, Dominique Goodman was employed as a high-achieving sales associate at Honda South in Morrow, a position he had held for three years. Colleagues and family noted his consistent performance and advancement within the automotive sales industry. He was a longtime resident of the Palmetto community.
Those close to him remember Goodman principally for his devotion as a parent. His final actions were driven by a protective instinct after his daughter summoned him. Family members characterized his response as a natural parental reflex, emphasizing that his life was oriented around the care and support of his children, including the daughter involved in the incident.
In the aftermath, the restaurant was closed temporarily as part of the official inquiry. The corporate entity operating the franchised location released a statement expressing sorrow over the violent event.
