New Castle, Indiana, said goodbye to David Edington on December 5, 2025, when the 62-year-old passed away peacefully at his home. Born March 30, 1963, in Landstuhl, Germany, to the late Dwaine “Ed” and Francis Marlene Davis Edington, David carried the curiosity of an Army brat and the heart of a lifelong Hoosier.
David’s laugh arrived before he did and lingered long after he left a room. Whether cracking a perfectly timed one-liner or recounting a John Wayne movie line with theatrical flair, he had a gift for turning ordinary moments into stories worth retelling. Friends still grin remembering the time he showed up to a backyard barbecue in full Kiss makeup, drumsticks in hand, ready to rock the grill.
Music was his oxygen. A talented drummer and bass player, he spent countless evenings jamming classic Kansas and Kiss riffs in garages and basements across Henry County. His photography captured everything from misty Colorado peaks to local sunsets, while his fossil-hunting trips along Whitewater River yielded treasures he proudly displayed on shelves built with his own hands.
The mountains called him home every chance he got. Road trips west with family or friends were sacred, windows down, Kansas blaring, the Rockies rising like a promise kept. Those journeys, along with his deep knowledge of World War II history, gave him endless material for the stories that made nieces, nephews, and neighbors lean in closer.
David is survived by a wide circle of family who cherished his fierce loyalty and gentle encouragement. He was predeceased by his parents, but his spirit lives on in every drumbeat, every photograph, and every laugh that echoes when his people gather.
Friends may pay respects on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Home in New Castle. Visitation runs from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition.
David Edington lived curiously, loved loudly, and left New Castle richer for every note he played and every smile he sparked. The music hasn’t stopped; it just plays a little softer now.
