It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Connie Jean (Weiss) Eden, a beloved resident of Bay Port, Michigan, who died on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. At the age of 75, Mrs. Eden passed away after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Her departure has left a profound sense of loss in the Huron County community, where she was known for her decades of dedicated service in healthcare and her unwavering commitment to her faith. Friends and colleagues mourn the loss of a woman whose life was defined by diligence, compassion, and spiritual devotion.
Connie grew up in the Bay Port area. She graduated from Elkton Pigeon Bay Port High School in 1969. Then she went to Ferris State University and earned an associate degree. That education prepared her for a long career at Scheurer Health.
She worked there for more than 46 years. Most of that time was in medical records. She ended as a Coding Specialist. The job required precision. Patient records cannot be sloppy. Connie was never sloppy. Colleagues say she handled complex paperwork with ease and never broke confidentiality. She retired in 2016.
Faith was the cornerstone of Connie’s life, evidenced by her lifelong membership at Cross Lutheran Church in Pigeon. She was deeply involved in the congregation, serving as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and member of the mission outreach team. Her dedication to nurturing the spiritual growth of others was further reflected in her participation in the Circle women’s bible group and the church choir. Friends and fellow parishioners recall her enthusiasm for the church’s annual Christmas program, which she never missed, highlighting her joy in celebrating her faith through music and community.
Beyond her professional and religious commitments, Connie was active in civic and social organizations, serving as a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Pigeon Chat and Chew group. These roles allowed her to mentor young people and engage in meaningful conversations with her peers, fostering a sense of community and connection. Her involvement in these groups demonstrated her belief in the importance of social support and lifelong learning, enriching the lives of those around her through her guidance and companionship.
A funeral service for Connie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Cross Lutheran Church, located at 200 Ruppert Street in Pigeon. Pastor Kevin Kaiser will preside over the ceremony, offering words of comfort and remembrance to those gathered. Visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, at Ransford Funeral Home – Pigeon, and at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. These arrangements provide structured opportunities for friends and family to honor her legacy and share in their collective grief.
