Tyler Dukes, a 37-year-old man from Madison, Indiana, was killed in a violent head-on collision with a commercial semi-truck on Sunday, February 15, 2026. The crash occurred just before 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and County Road 600 West, near the small community of Holton in Otter Creek Township, Ripley County.
According to Indiana State Police, Dukes was driving a 2008 Mercury Mariner eastbound on U.S. 50 when, for reasons still under investigation, his SUV crossed the center line and entered the path of a westbound semi-truck hauling a trailer.
The semi, driven by 26-year-old Richard Murray of Spring Hill, Florida, was unable to avoid the oncoming SUV. The two vehicles collided nearly head-on, resulting in both the SUV and the semi overturning. The semi came to rest off the north side of the highway, while the SUV remained overturned on the roadway. Emergency crews arriving at the scene were met with a catastrophic scene and immediately began rescue efforts.
Tyler Dukes was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. Richard Murray sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Margaret Mary Health in Batesville for treatment.
