Family and friends in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, are mourning following the passing of Troy A. Navis on Monday, January 5, 2026. The 61-year-old Oshkosh man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Fond du Lac County and was pronounced dead at a local hospital after sustaining serious injuries.
The crash was reported to authorities at approximately 6:50 p.m. on County Highway M (CTH M) near Amity Road in the Township of Waupun, about four to five miles north of the city. According to the official investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, Navis was driving north on the roadway when, just north of Amity Road, his vehicle left the pavement, entered the east ditch, and struck an embankment. The impact caused the car to overturn, and it came to rest in the ditch, trapping Navis inside.
Emergency responders, including deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and crews from the Brandon/Fairwater Fire Department, arrived to find the vehicle overturned in the ditch.
Firefighters used extrication tools to remove Navis from the wreckage and immediately began administering medical aid at the scene. He was transported by Life Star Ambulance to SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac with serious injuries but succumbed to those injuries at the hospital.
A critical detail authorities have released is that alcohol is confirmed to be a factor in the crash. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office stated this directly and continues to investigate the circumstances leading to the fatal incident. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Due to the crash investigation and recovery efforts, County Highway M was closed to traffic between Amity Road and County Highway TC for approximately one hour on Monday evening. The investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office remains active as of the latest reports.
