In the early morning hours of Saturday, February 14, 2026, Cincinnati police were dispatched at approximately 12:39 a.m. to the 200 block of East Third Street in downtown Cincinnati after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found 29‑year‑old Tobias Hood suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Cincinnati Fire Department.
Hood had spent the previous evening celebrating his brother’s birthday with friends and family aboard a party bus. According to court documents, another passenger on the bus, 28‑year‑old De’Angelo Robinson, became involved in an altercation during the ride. The confrontation escalated, and Robinson fatally shot Hood while the bus was in the downtown area near East Third Street. Police later described the attack as unprovoked.
After shooting Hood, Robinson attempted to exit the bus. During his attempt to flee, he also shot the bus driver, reportedly because the driver did not open the door quickly enough. The driver survived but was hospitalized in serious condition following the attack.
Officers arriving on scene quickly identified the situation and began their investigation. Robinson was taken into custody shortly after the shooting and charged with the murder of Tobias Hood. Police confirmed his arrest later that morning.
Friends, coworkers and family members described Hood as a bright, funny and mechanically skilled young man who worked at Quaker Steak and Lube. They remembered him as someone who loved to dance, brought joy into every room and was deeply devoted to his two daughters. The night of the shooting, he had been excited to celebrate with his loved ones, unaware of the violence that would unfold.
The sudden loss of Hood left his community grieving a man remembered for his warmth, humor and dedication to his family. He was 29 years old.
