Born Ruth Ann Howe on April 10, 1940, in Union County, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late George Howe and Rose Howe Acquaviva. She grew up in a family with her sister, Marie, and brother, Andrew Howe, both of whom preceded her in death. Her East Coast roots and family values remained a cornerstone of her identity throughout her life.
Ruth built her own family with dedication and love. She is survived by her four children: daughters Susan Dunn of Cameron and Anne Demarest of Vass, and sons Jay Demarest, Jr. of Florida and Michael Demarest of Asheboro. Her role as a grandmother was one she held dear, and she is survived by two grandchildren. The family mourns the earlier loss of her granddaughter, Skylar Dunn.
