On December 7, 2025, Phillip Eugene Mitchell III, age 15, of Crestwood, Kentucky, died unexpectedly, leaving his family and community in mourning. Phillip was a student at South Oldham Middle School, where he approached adolescence with curiosity and generosity. He participated in school activities that reflected his enthusiasm, earning admiration from teachers and peers for his eagerness to learn and his supportive nature.

Phillip was born on May 22, 2010, in Louisville, and was the son of Phillip Eugene Mitchell Jr. and Sarah Mitchell. Raised in a household in Oldham County, he shared a special bond with his father, joining him on fishing trips along the Ohio River and hikes in Jefferson Memorial Forest. His education fostered a growing interest in science, where he excelled in hands‑on experiments and classroom projects.

As the eldest of three siblings, Phillip guided his brothers Ethan and Noah with playful protectiveness. His mother recalled evenings filled with board games and backyard campfires, traditions rooted in their Baptist faith at Crestwood United Methodist Church. Family gatherings reflected his nurturing spirit and strengthened the bonds that defined his world.
