Obituary | Chris Morton Death, Veteran of Press Ganey Associates from South Bend, IN, Has Died

South Bend lost one of its quiet leaders when Chris Morton, 54, passed away unexpectedly on December 2, 2025, after a brief and sudden illness. A 24-year veteran of Press Ganey Associates, Chris spent more than two decades shaping healthcare improvement strategies while mentoring generations of analysts and executives with patience and sharp insight.

A 1993 graduate of Indiana University South Bend with a degree in business administration, Chris joined Press Ganey in 2001 as a data analyst and rose to Senior Director of Client Analytics. Colleagues remember him as the go-to expert who could translate complex patient-experience metrics into actionable plans, yet always made time to explain formulas over coffee to new hires.

Chris and his wife Amy, married 28 years, raised three children in the North Shore Triangle neighborhood, turning their backyard into the unofficial headquarters for summer swim parties and fall bonfires. He coached both sons through River City Soccer and served on the board of the St. Joseph County Youth Soccer Association for over a decade.

An avid cyclist, Chris logged thousands of miles on the East Bank Trail and led the Press Ganey corporate cycling team in the annual Pumpkinvine ride, and quietly sponsored registration fees for coworkers who wanted to join. Weekends often found him at Notre Dame games with season tickets in Section 25 or restoring vintage Schwinn bikes in his garage.

Chris was the colleague who remembered birthdays, sent handwritten thank-you notes after projects, and organized the office March Madness pool that raised thousands for Riley Children’s Hospital. His sudden absence leaves a void in conference rooms across the country where his calm voice once guided tough conversations.

At 54, Chris Morton leaves behind his wife Amy, three children pursuing college and early careers, and a South Bend professional community forever better because he showed up every day ready to listen, teach, and lead with kindness.
