Netsia Philogene, 32, of Claymont, Delaware, was killed in a rollover crash on Interstate 95 in South Philadelphia on Tuesday night, May 12, 2026. Her 4‑year‑old daughter survived without physical injury but was visibly shaken. The crash occurred just before 9 p.m. in the northbound lanes near mile marker 19.4, close to the Columbus Boulevard exit.
Pennsylvania State Police reported that Philogene was driving a black Toyota Highlander when she attempted to merge right between two vehicles. Witnesses said she struck the rear passenger side of a white Jaguar SUV, lost control, and hit the right shoulder barrier. The Highlander rolled multiple times before coming to rest on its driver’s side.
Philogene was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover. Medics pronounced her dead at 9:34 p.m. despite bystanders rushing to help immediately after the crash. Her daughter was found in the backseat by witnesses and transported to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as a precaution.
State police confirmed that Philogene had been speeding and weaving in and out of traffic before the collision. Multiple witnesses described her driving behavior as erratic, which contributed to the crash sequence.
No other injuries were reported among the drivers or passengers of the vehicles involved. The northbound lanes of I‑95 were closed for approximately four hours, reopening around 1:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13.
Aerial footage captured by local news outlets showed the overturned Toyota Highlander and several vehicles stopped along the closed roadway. Witnesses who pulled over described the scene as chaotic, with drivers attempting to assist Philogene and comfort her child until emergency responders arrived.
The Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate the crash, focusing on speed and unsafe lane changes as contributing factors. The tragedy has drawn attention to the dangers of aggressive driving on one of Philadelphia’s busiest highways.
