It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Nathan Tyler Butcher, a beloved 33-year-old resident of Maurice River Township in the Millville, New Jersey area who left this world unexpectedly on March 2, 2026. Born on April 16 1992 in Bridgeton Nathan was the son of Robert John and Tracy Pangburn Butcher Sr and grew up as a lifelong local whose warm personality and dedication left a lasting impression on family friends and the entire Cumberland County community.
Nathan graduated from Millville High School with the Class of 2010 where he excelled as an athlete playing in MRT Little League Baseball Vineland Inline Hockey the Vineland Traveling Ice Hockey League and later on the Millville High School golf team. These early experiences built the foundation of discipline teamwork and perseverance that carried into every chapter of his life.
As a third-generation commercial crabber Nathan began working on the water as a toddler and officially joined his father brother and uncles at just four years old as a buoy spotter eventually building what he proudly called his own crab empire. His deep love for the bays and the family tradition of crabbing defined much of his daily life and brought him immense satisfaction and purpose.
In his free time Nathan was an avid bow hunter and active member of both the South Millville Gunning Club and the Millville Elks where he enjoyed following baseball with a passion for statistics and cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies and Green Bay Packers. He also cherished time outdoors and the simple joys of life with his beloved dog Red creating a balanced existence that combined hard work with moments of relaxation and community camaraderie.
Nathan was a devoted son brother and friend whose relationships were built on trust loyalty and deep affection that strengthened everyone around him. He is survived by his loving parents Robert John and Tracy Butcher Sr his brother Robert John Butcher Jr and wife Lena his nephew Robert John Butcher III numerous aunts uncles and cousins and his faithful dog Red. Family was at the center of his world and he poured his heart into being present for loved ones offering support and joy that created bonds sure to endure.
A private family service has been held with a celebration of life planned for a later date as loved ones come together to honor this remarkable young man whose warmth and contributions will be remembered with gratitude and affection throughout the area he called home.
