Monica Jean Phillips, a beloved native of East Brewton and Evergreen, Alabama, lost her life in a tragic occurrence. After suffering severe injuries in a car accident on U.S. 84, the 35-year-old died on December 29, 2025. Her abrupt departure has left her family and community grieving deeply over a brilliant life that ended way too soon.
Around 5:10 a.m., Phillips’ 2014 Nissan Rogue and a 2015 Ford Explorer crashed close to the 112.7 mile marker on U.S. 84. According to reports, Samatha K. Guy, 21, of Daphne, was driving the Explorer when it first hit a tree in the road. Guy was taken to Andalusia Health for treatment, while Phillips was declared dead at the spot. The event is still being investigated.
Monica was raised locally and attended W.S. Neal High School. She was born in Brewton, Alabama, on September 28, 1990. She embraced her Christian beliefs and pursued work that showcased her artistic touch as she developed her life in East Brewton and Evergreen. She added sweetness and creativity to regular events in her community as a talented cake designer at IGA in Opp, Alabama.
Monica’s sons, Caleb, Cody, and Chase Parker, all of Evergreen; parents, David (Sandy) Phillips and Judy (Jeff) Boles, both of East Brewton; brothers, Brandon (Britney) Butts of Valley; Nathaniel Hutchinson and Justin Jackson of East Brewton; and sister, Jessica Jackson of East Brewton, all survive her. She also leaves behind her niece Rebecca Ramos of East Brewton and nephew Hayden Shipp. Her brother Kyler Phillips, sister Amber Phillips, and grandparents James Phillips and Rojean Hammac all passed away before her.
The Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, located at 2353 South Boulevard in Brewton, will host a visitation on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Rev. Justin Morse will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., and the deceased will be buried at Sellersville Cemetery in Jay, Florida. These arrangements provide a place for family members to congregate and offer their condolences.
