He came into the world on October 11, 1954, in Atlanta. As a boy, he grew up surrounded by eight brothers and sisters. He later described those years as full of motion—fishing trips, hunting excursions, backyard sports, vegetable patches, and helping his mother manage a busy household. That crowded, energetic upbringing taught him to be practical and to value cooperation. Those lessons never left him.
Once he finished North Hall High School and took additional classes at Lanier Technical College, he turned his attention to housing and home improvement. He had a natural ability to turn run-down spaces into welcoming homes. People in the region knew him as a capable businessman. He did not rush through jobs. He took genuine pleasure in each renovation, especially when the result helped a family settle into a better life.
He also showed up faithfully at Free Chapel. His religious faith and the friendships he formed there gave him direction. The church was not just a building he visited. It became a cornerstone of his identity. He found meaning in worship and in serving alongside others, which deepened his own beliefs while also supporting fellow members.
Friends and relatives remember someone whose kindness and strong work habits inspired confidence. A service will occur on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, starting at 11:00 a.m. The location is the Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Leading the ceremony are Rev. Milton Martin Jr., Rev. Powell Sailors, Rev. Zack Johnson, and Rick Little. Afterward, the burial will take place at Mt. Vernon Baptist Cemetery.
The night before, Tuesday, April 21, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., the family will welcome visitors at the same funeral home. Those who attend will share quiet memories of a man whose life revolved around belief, relatives, and the honest satisfaction of creating something useful.
