Mikey, a native of Lafayette, Louisiana, was known for his lively personality, musical ability, and love of the great outdoors. His abrupt passing has left a hole in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
Mikey demonstrated early resilience and determination by graduating in the top 10 of his class from the National Guard Youth Challenge Program in Pineville in 2008, at the age of 17. This achievement highlighted his ability to overcome challenges and commit to personal growth, setting a foundation for the disciplined and passionate individual he would become.
His time in the program instilled in him values of teamwork and perseverance, which guided his approach to life’s opportunities and obstacles. Friends and mentors recall his dedication and positive attitude during this formative period.
An avid outdoorsman, Mikey embraced the “good ole country life” with enthusiasm and joy. He found peace and happiness in hunting, fishing, crabbing, and riding horses, often sharing these experiences with friends and family. His love for animals was evident in his care for all creatures, and he cherished the camaraderie of trail rides and bonfires.
Mikey also discovered a passion for outdoor campfire cooking, approaching it with such confidence and flair that he proudly declared himself the best cook of all time. These gatherings were marked by laughter, delicious meals, and a sense of community that reflected his generous spirit.
Beyond his love for the outdoors, Mikey was gifted in music, particularly as a pianist and vocalist. He shared his talents by singing in the choirs at St. James Baptist Church and Progressive Baptist Church, where his voice added depth and emotion to worship services. His musical contributions were not just performances but acts of devotion, reflecting his deep faith and desire to uplift others through song. Simcoe Street in Lafayette, Louisiana, will have a Life Celebration Service on May 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Friends, relatives, and community members may commemorate Mikey’s memory and share recollections of his life at this event. The purpose of the ceremony is to honor the happiness he offered to people by his cooking, singing, and love of the outdoors.
