A fatal shooting unfolded early Sunday morning March 1, 2026 outside Bistro Paradise Restaurant and Bar located at 737 North Apopka Vineland Road in west Orange County, Florida. Orange County sheriff deputies responded around 3:30 a.m. to reports of gunfire in the parking lot turning the once lively venue into a secured crime scene as additional units arrived to manage the chaotic aftermath near Apopka.
Deputies discovered 29-year-old Kendy Alexandre lying on the sidewalk outside the establishment suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. First responders provided immediate aid before transporting him to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 7:59 a.m.
The rapid medical response could not overcome the severity of the injury sustained during the parking lot altercation that escalated in front of the club. No other patrons or staff required treatment for gunshot wounds though the incident prompted a full lockdown until the scene was cleared.
Kendy Alexandre was a beloved local Haitian DJ whose music and positive energy had made him a familiar and cherished figure in Orlando’s vibrant nightlife and cultural circles. Known for spinning at events across the region he brought joy and connection to countless gatherings with his upbeat sets and community spirit.
The suspect 33-year-old Rijkaard Florvil initially told deputies he had been at the club when a fight erupted in the parking lot. He claimed he moved his lifted green Jeep Wrangler away from the disturbance then exited the vehicle to retrieve a vape pen before firing two shots into the air to disperse the crowd.
This account however stood in stark contrast to surveillance video from the scene which captured Florvil approaching the group on foot raising his arm and firing directly at Alexandre causing the victim to collapse immediately.
Florvil fled northbound on North Apopka Vineland Road immediately after the shooting but deputies quickly spotted the distinctive Jeep and conducted a traffic stop leading to his arrest without further incident. He was taken into custody the same morning and booked into the Orange County Jail where he remains held without bond. The swift identification came through witness statements combined with the clear video evidence that contradicted his initial statement and prompted him to request an attorney.
Orange County sheriff detectives continue their investigation into the March 1 shooting classifying it as an isolated incident stemming from the parking lot fight with no ongoing threat to the public. The Orlando Haitian community has rallied in support of Alexandre’s family organizing tributes and calling for justice while reflecting on the sudden loss of a DJ who brought light to so many lives.
