Kellie Harvey Death – Cherished mother from Mapleton, Kansas has tragically died

Kellie J. Harvey, 57, of Mapleton, was killed in a terrible collision that rocked the peaceful rural roadways of Bourbon County, Kansas, on Thursday night. Many locals are familiar with the area where the event happened, which is along 125th Street close to Mapleton.

Around 9:15 p.m., Harvey’s SUV drifted off the road while she was heading north, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. Her family and community would suffer heartache as a result of the sad series of events that began with her abrupt exit from the road.

Investigators reported that Harvey’s vehicle left the right side of the road before she attempted to correct its path. In the process, the SUV overcorrected, causing it to cross back over the roadway and overturn multiple times. The violent rollover sent the vehicle into a ditch on the opposite side of the road. Troopers noted that the crash unfolded within seconds, leaving little opportunity for recovery or escape.

The Kansas Highway Patrol confirmed that Harvey was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, a factor that likely contributed to the severity of her injuries. First responders arrived quickly, but the force of the rollover had already caused fatal trauma. Harvey was pronounced dead at the scene, and her body was later transported to Cheney Witt Funeral Chapel.

Authorities also noted that the SUV involved was a 1996 Ford Explorer, and no other vehicles were part of the incident. The crash occurred approximately half a mile north of Ridge Road, about five miles north of U.S. 54, placing it in a sparsely populated area where nighttime visibility can be limited. Investigators are continuing to review the circumstances, but early findings indicate that the crash was a single‑vehicle rollover with no signs of foul play.

For first responders, the scene was another painful reminder of the dangers posed by rural roadways, especially after dark. For Harvey’s loved ones, the news marked the beginning of an unimaginable loss. Community members in Mapleton and surrounding areas have expressed their condolences, remembering her as a familiar face whose sudden passing has left a deep void.

As the investigation continues, officials are urging drivers to use caution on rural roads and to always wear seat belts, emphasizing that even routine drives can turn tragic in an instant. Harvey’s death stands as a somber reminder of how quickly lives can change on the open roads of Bourbon County.
