A 19‑year‑old man was found shot to death early Wednesday morning inside a Northeast Side apartment in San Antonio, hours after gunfire was first reported at the same location. The San Antonio Police Department said the initial call came in around 9 p.m. Tuesday from a resident in the 4800 block of Goldfield Drive, who reported hearing multiple gunshots.
The caller told officers that bullets pierced her apartment windows and walls, though she was not injured. Officers searched the area but did not locate a suspect or victim at that time.
Just before 7 a.m. Wednesday, police were called back to the same apartment complex for a shooting in progress. When officers arrived, they saw fresh bullet holes on the exterior of the building and immediately began clearing the area. The location, identified as the New Horizon Apartments near Rittiman Road and Loop 410, had already been the focus of concern due to the gunfire reported the night before.
Upon entering the apartment unit, officers found a 19‑year‑old man lying unresponsive. He had been shot and showed no signs of life. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. Police confirmed that the victim was discovered inside the same unit where the earlier gunfire had been reported, suggesting that the initial shooting incident and the fatal shooting were connected.
Investigators believe the victim may have been inside the apartment during the first round of gunfire, but the circumstances surrounding his movements between the two incidents remain under review.
