A beloved presence in the hearts of many, Jaden Ochsner will always be remembered for her vibrant energy her commitment to swimming and the genuine kindness she extended to teammates and friends during her brief but impactful time at Morningside University.
The first-year student from Hastings, Nebraska was found deceased in her residence hall during spring break in early March 2026 sending waves of sorrow through the campus community and her hometown. Her sudden passing has left classmates coaches faculty and loved ones reflecting on the bright spirit she brought to everyday interactions and athletic pursuits.
Jaden Ochsner graduated from Hastings High School in Nebraska in 2025 where she excelled both academically and as a member of the Hastings Tigers swim team building a strong foundation of discipline and teamwork that carried directly into her college years. She was awarded the Class of 1969 Alumni Scholarship which recognized her achievements and supported her transition to higher education at Morningside University in Sioux City Iowa.
As a proud member of the Morningside Women’s Swim Team Jaden quickly established herself as a dedicated athlete who approached every practice and competition with enthusiasm and a strong sense of camaraderie. She contributed positively to the team dynamic through her consistent effort and encouraging presence that motivated those around her to push their limits and celebrate collective successes.
Beyond athletic commitments Jaden fully embraced campus life by regularly attending other sporting events to cheer enthusiastically for her fellow Mustangs creating an atmosphere of school spirit wherever she went. She also found simple joys in visiting Bette the campus animal ambassador whose calming company brought smiles and comfort during her busy days as a student athlete.
Teammates and friends recall Jaden as someone whose warm personality and supportive nature made her a cherished part of group activities whether in the pool area or at campus gatherings. She had a special ability to offer encouragement during tough moments and to share in the excitement of achievements fostering bonds that strengthened the overall sense of belonging at Morningside. Her approach to college life reflected a deep appreciation for the opportunities around her and a commitment to making the most of each day with genuine care for those nearby.
Though her journey was cut short the memories of her enthusiasm kindness and positive contributions continue to inspire the Mustang community and her hometown residents as they come together in shared reflection. The outpouring of support highlights how deeply one young woman’s presence can resonate and the enduring light she leaves behind for all who carry her memory forward.
