Daysun Wilson, 22, of Halifax, Virginia, was shot and killed at the Millwood Apartments in Lynchburg on Monday night, May 18, 2026. Police have identified the suspect as Ke John McGhee, 20, of Richmond, who remains at large and is wanted on charges of second‑degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a murder.
Officers with the Lynchburg Police Department responded to multiple reports of gunfire at approximately 8:20 p.m. at the Millwood Apartments, located at 6224 Old Mill Road. When they arrived, they learned that Wilson had already been transported by personal vehicle to Lynchburg General Hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Investigators determined that Wilson and McGhee knew each other and that the shooting followed an altercation between the two men. During the confrontation, McGhee allegedly produced a handgun and shot Wilson. Police have described McGhee as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 130 pounds.
