A tragic collision on Interstate 20 in West Monroe, Louisiana, claimed the lives of two men on the morning of Thursday, February 12, 2026. The crash occurred just west of Louisiana Highway 3249, also known as Well Road, around 10:00 a.m. According to the Louisiana State Police, the incident involved two commercial motor vehicles and resulted in a chaotic scene that drew a swift response from emergency personnel.
Clinton Warren, a 46-year-old from Vina, Alabama, was operating a blue 2012 Freightliner truck hauling a manufactured home in the left westbound lane of I-20. His passenger, 45-year-old Nelson Okuoimose of Laveen, Arizona, was also in the cab at the time. Simultaneously, a white 2013 Freightliner pulling a box trailer was traveling in the adjacent right lane. For reasons still under investigation, Warren’s vehicle veered to the right and collided with the other truck.
The force of the impact caused both trucks to swerve left, crashing into the median and ultimately slamming into the support structure of the Vancil Road overpass. The collision was so severe that it caused catastrophic damage to both vehicles. Clinton Warren was pronounced dead at the scene, while Nelson Okuoimose succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. The driver of the second truck sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the surviving driver, and toxicology samples were collected from all involved parties as part of the ongoing investigation. The Louisiana State Police have stated that impairment is not currently suspected, but they are awaiting lab results to confirm. Weather conditions at the time were reported to be clear, and no adverse road conditions were noted.
The crash caused significant traffic delays along I-20, with both westbound lanes closed for several hours as investigators worked to reconstruct the scene and clear the wreckage.
