We are utterly heartbroken to inform you of a profound tragedy. Angelina Rose Bell was taken from us violently on March 7, 2026 and did not survive. The 24 year old cherished resident of Riverton, Wyoming was found in a motel room at the Ol’ Wyoming Motel on North Federal Boulevard after sustaining a gunshot wound to the face in what authorities have ruled a homicide.
A young daughter discovered her mother, prompting an immediate response from Riverton Police who quickly made an arrest in the case. This unimaginable loss has shaken the entire Fremont County community and the Arapaho people who knew and loved her, leaving behind a young life full of promise that was cut short far too soon.
According to an affidavit and charging paperwork submitted on Monday in Riverton Circuit Court, the suspect, Sterling Louis Black Jr., 25, turned himself in to police on Saturday afternoon and is now charged with one count of second-degree murder.
She was born on August 11, 2001 in Riverton, Wyoming to Byron James Bell and Angel Christine Moss. From her very first days Angelina was surrounded by the strong family ties and cultural heritage that would shape her gentle and grounded character. Those early roots in the Wind River area gave her a deep sense of belonging that stayed with her throughout her short but meaningful time on this earth.
Angelina grew up in Riverton and Arapahoe and spent her entire life in the area. She graduated in 2022 from Arapaho Charter High School where she was known among classmates for her quiet determination and strong connection to her roots. She practiced the Traditional Native American ways and valued her culture and community with a reverence that showed in how she carried herself and how she honored the teachings passed down through generations.
She worked as a waitress at the Rusty Truck and the Airport Café before taking a position as a housekeeper at the Casino where her reliable and kind presence made a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike. In every role she brought the same steady warmth and work ethic that reflected the values instilled in her from childhood, always showing up with a readiness to help and a respect for the people and traditions around her.
A Vigil Service with a Rosary was recited at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church followed by a wake at 92 Chief Black Coal Circle. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 13, 2026 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at Arapaho Catholic Cemetery. In the days surrounding these services the community came together in Riverton’s City Park for a gathering of remembrance, sharing stories and support as they mourned one of their own.
The outpouring of thoughts, prayers, and condolences reflects the impact Angelina Rose Bell had on Riverton and beyond. A beloved presence in the hearts of many, she will always be remembered for the deep love she held for her Arapaho culture and community, her dedication to family, and the quiet strength she carried through every chapter of her life.
