42-Year-Old Dangelo Ricardo Jackson of Gaffney, SC, Murdered in Spartanburg

Early Saturday morning, February 7, 2026, a gathering at a residence in the 500 block of North Center Street in Spartanburg, South Carolina, ended in tragedy when gunfire erupted outside. Witnesses later reported that 42-year-old Dangelo Ricardo Jackson had arrived to attend the party, but a dispute escalated into a fatal shooting in a nearby driveway.

Spartanburg Police Department officers responded to calls reporting shots fired around 1:20 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Jackson lying in the driveway of 586 North Center Street, suffering from a single gunshot wound to his chest. Several people who had been at the nearby party fled the area as the shots rang out.

Emergency crews from the Spartanburg Fire Department and Spartanburg EMS arrived quickly and attempted lifesaving measures on scene. Despite their efforts, medical personnel pronounced Jackson dead at 2:26 a.m. The immediate area was secured as investigators began processing evidence in the residential neighborhood.

The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office conducted an on-site examination and officially identified the victim as Dangelo Ricardo Jackson, a resident of 8th Street in Gaffney, South Carolina. The coroner confirmed the cause of death as the chest gunshot wound, and the manner was ruled a homicide.

Preliminary accounts from witnesses suggested the shooting may have followed an argument over money involving party attendees. One description provided to police portrayed the suspect as a Black male with low-cut hair, wearing a red jacket and red pants, though no arrests had been made as the investigation continued.

Detectives from the Spartanburg Police Department, working alongside the coroner’s office, continue to pursue leads in the active case.
