Trevion Wesley Harper, skateboarder and resident of Saginaw, Michigan tragically dies at 22

The Saginaw community on Michigan’s West Side is mourning the sudden loss of 22-year-old Trevion Wesley Harper, who was fatally struck by a truck while skateboarding in the early morning hours of May 6, 2026. Born on April 11, 2004, in Saginaw, Harper was a vibrant young man known for his warm personality, love of family, and passion for skateboarding among other activities.

Saginaw police officers responded around 3:30 a.m. to a vehicle-pedestrian crash near the intersection of Davenport Avenue and North Oakley Street. Upon arrival, they found Harper suffering severe injuries after being struck by a westbound truck on Davenport Avenue.

Medical responders pronounced him deceased at the scene. Preliminary findings from the Saginaw County Crash Team confirmed that Harper had been riding his skateboard on the roadway at the time of the collision.

The driver of the truck, a 39-year-old man from Warren, Michigan, was not injured in the incident. No arrests were reported in connection with the crash as authorities continued their investigation. Trevion Harper was a devoted son to his mother Sarena Douglass and stepfather Wayne Douglass. He is also survived by his sister Alliyah Hare-Harper, half-brother Eisley Harper, nephew Ezra Harper, grandparents, and extended family including aunts, uncles, and cousins. A 2022 graduate of Swartz Creek High School, he had worked in several positions at Wendy’s, where he was remembered as reliable and hardworking.

Friends and family recall Harper’s funny, soft-spoken, and well-mannered nature that endeared him to everyone he met. He cherished family time, enjoyed babysitting his younger cousins, and expressed his energetic personality through skateboarding, swimming, playing video games, and making music. His ability to bring laughter and value to those around him left a lasting impression on the Saginaw community and beyond.

Private arrangements for Trevion W. Harper were entrusted to Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel in Swartz Creek. As the Saginaw community processes this loss, many are reflecting on the importance of safety awareness for all road users. The investigation by the Saginaw County Crash Team remains ongoing, with officials offering condolences to the grieving family and friends.
