Sharon Rose Alby, a dedicated resident of Albion, Indiana, sadly passed away on December 29, 2025, at the age of 84, Sharon departed peacefully at Ascension Living Sacred Heart Village Nursing Home in Avilla, surrounded by family and the gentle strains of Amazing Grace. Her farewell marked the close of a life defined by resilience, devotion, and love.
Born on October 27, 1941, in Columbia City to Joseph and Ella (Sheets) Born, Sharon grew up in a nurturing home that shaped her strong character. She graduated from Knightstown High School, carrying forward the determination and work ethic instilled in her youth. Those early lessons became the foundation of a lifetime spent caring for others and meeting challenges with quiet strength.
On November 15, 2001, Sharon married Richard Alby, finding companionship and joy in their union until his passing in 2003. Professionally, she dedicated herself to the healthcare community, serving in the cafeteria at Parkview Hospital and later in the kitchen at Whitley County Hospital. Colleagues and friends admired her reliability, diligence, and the care she brought to even the simplest tasks.
Her family was the heart of her world. Sharon is survived by her daughter Deborah (Steven) Earnhart; sons Duane (Angela) Alexander and Darren (Melissa) Alexander; and five stepchildren, Vicki Davis, Kathy Alby, Susan Alby, Theresa Alby, and Dionne Landgraft.
Her legacy continues through four grandchildren—Derek (Jamie) Earnhart, Darbi (David) Konkle, Brooke (Nick) Houser, and Brandi Alexander—and seven great-grandchildren: James, Max, and Allison Earnhart; and Daelyn, Deslyn, Dellah, and Daxtyn Konkle. Each generation reflects the bonds she nurtured with patience and love.
On January 11, 2026, a elebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Nursing Home Chapel in Avilla, Indiana. Arrangements are entrusted to Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, offering family and friends a chance to gather, share memories, and honor her enduring spirit.
