Born on October 12, 1968, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Raymond and Rosann Lynch Chmielewski, Roger grew up in northern Indiana where he developed the strong work ethic and warm humor that would define his character throughout his life.
His journey from Fort Wayne to the welcoming community of Plymouth allowed him to establish deep roots in a place known for its small town charm and close knit neighborhoods, creating a life centered on family bonds, professional dedication, and the simple pleasures that brought joy to those around him. Roger’s presence was a constant source of comfort and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to share in his world.
Throughout his career, Roger applied his skills as a skilled electrician, bringing reliability and expertise to every project he undertook. He worked for several years at Bay Valley and Metal Cast before transitioning to McCormick’s in South Bend, where he continued to demonstrate precision and commitment in his trade.
Electrical work demanded both technical knowledge and attention to detail, qualities Roger possessed in abundance, earning him the respect of colleagues who appreciated his steady hands and problem solving abilities. Roger also cherished his role as grandfather to seven grandchildren, Carter, Lauren, Kaydence, Kamden, Elliana, Parker, and Elsie, showering them with affection and creating joyful experiences that will endure in their hearts. His sister Wendy Booker Stephen Thompson, whom he considered his best friend, shared an especially close bond with him, while her children Steven, Kayla, Kristen, and Brandon looked to him as a beloved uncle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Rosann Chmielewski, along with two brothers, leaving behind a family legacy built on resilience, love, and the quiet strength of enduring relationships.
A visitation to honor Roger R. Chmielewski will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Johnson Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563, followed immediately by funeral services at 6 p.m. with Pastor Wyatt Smith officiating.
