A life marked by gentle hands and an unwavering heart for others came to its peaceful conclusion on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, when Patsy Mary Jane Crockett, 83, went home to be with her Lord at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.
Born in that same city on February 10, 1943, Patsy carried the warmth of East Tennessee throughout her journey, leaving behind a legacy of compassion that touched patients, family, and friends across Southwest Virginia.
From her earliest days, Patsy embraced a spirit of service that would define her remarkable 31-year career as a certified nursing assistant at Valley Healthcare Center in Chilhowie. Colleagues and residents alike remember her not just for her skilled care, but for the way she listened, encouraged, and treated every person with dignity, often staying late or offering a comforting word when someone felt alone.
Patsy’s devotion extended far beyond her professional calling. As an active member of Valley View Baptist Church, she found joy in fellowship, worship, and supporting her church family through seasons of celebration and sorrow. Her faith also led her to support the Hadassah House in Atkins, a ministry close to her heart, where she contributed quietly but consistently, believing that small acts of love could ripple outward in ways she might never see.
Though she faced profound loss throughout her life, Patsy met each challenge with grace. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Tom and Belle Davidson Cox; her husband, Kermit Ralph Crockett; five children, Sharon Bise, Douglas Crockett, Linda Crockett, Angela Crockett, and Jeffery Crockett; sisters Retha Testerman and Adaline Cox; brother Kenny Davidson; and daughter-in-law Donna Crockett. Yet through every season, she remained a steady presence for those who remained, offering wisdom, laughter, and the kind of love that asks for nothing in return.
Today, Patsy’s memory lives on through her son, Terry Crockett; grandchildren Charles Bise and Brandy Bise; great-grandchildren Braelyn Bise and Bella Adams; and her sister, Tempi Davidson. She is also lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cherished friends from Valley Healthcare Center, and her church family, all of whom carry forward the values she embodied: kindness, faithfulness, and a quiet strength that never sought recognition.
Friends and family gathered to honor Patsy’s life on Thursday, April 16, 2026, with visitation from 5 to 6 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 6 p.m. at Bradley’s Funeral Home Chapel in Marion, with Pastor Mike Sage sharing words of hope and comfort.
