On Saturday, April 11, 2026, Luke Joseph Soposki, 37, a cherished resident of Ashley, Ohio, died tragically along with his wife Lynnea Mallen and their young son Logan in a tragic multi-vehicle crash on northbound I-71 in Delaware County.
The family was struck by a semi-truck that failed to stop for slowed traffic in a construction zone near the U.S. 36/State Route 37 exit, resulting in a devastating pileup. This sudden loss has left the Ashley and central Ohio communities in profound mourning.
Luke was the youngest of three sons and developed a strong love for the outdoors from an early age. He especially enjoyed hunting, riding four-wheelers, and snowmobiling, activities that brought him joy and connection with nature throughout his life. His adventurous spirit and appreciation for the simple pleasures of the outdoors remained important parts of who he was.
He graduated from Richfield Springs Central School in 2007, where he served as student council president, participated in the yearbook club and National Honor Society, and played on the baseball team. Luke continued his education at SUNY Oneonta, earning a degree in biology before pursuing teaching certification. His academic path reflected a curious and dedicated mind committed to learning and growth.
Luke began his professional journey with MAD Scientist and Lawhone Associates before settling at Mettler Toledo, where he dedicated seven years of service. Colleagues and friends remembered him as a reliable, thoughtful individual who brought quiet strength and kindness to his work and relationships.
Luke Joseph Soposki will be remembered as a devoted husband and father who cherished family, loved the outdoors, and lived with purpose and care. Though his time with his wife Lynnea and son Logan ended far too soon in this heartbreaking accident, the memories of his gentle spirit, humor, and love for those closest to him will continue to comfort his surviving family and friends.
Dimbleby Funeral Homes, 40 Main Street, Whitesboro, will be open for calls on Sunday, May 3, from 2 to 5 p.m. Pastor Abel Roy will officiate the funeral services on Monday, May 4 at 10 a.m. at Clinton United Methodist Church, 105 Utica Street, Clinton. The immediate relatives will be buried in Crown Hill Memorial Park in Clinton, New York.
