With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lloyd James Jolin, a longtime resident of Wittenberg, Wisconsin, who died peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the age of 69, surrounded by family and under the care of Interim Hospice.
Lloyd, the son of Vernon and Annis (Jackson) Jolin, was born in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, on June 7, 1956. He grew up in a family setting that influenced his strong work ethic and feeling of devotion. He spent much of his adult life in Wittenberg, a small Shawano County community known for its rural charm and residents, where he became a familiar and respected presence.
In Tigerton, Lloyd married Marcia Stewart on August 5, 1978, starting a nearly 48-year relationship characterized by mutual support and shared commitments. Together they built a home centered on family, creating a stable foundation for their children and extended relatives. Lloyd took deep pride in his role as husband, father, and brother, offering encouragement and dependability to those closest to him.
He is survived by his devoted wife Marcia; daughter Laura; son Mike; sisters Mary (Floyd) Johnson and Emmie (Dennis) Clauson; brothers Ken Jolin, Jon Jolin, Jerry Jolin, Don (Kathy) Jolin, and Vern Jolin Jr.; along with brothers- and sisters-in-law Debra Walsh, Mary Harris, and Dennis (Linda) Stewart, as well as numerous nieces and nephews he helped raise over the years. These relationships formed the heart of his world, where he found purpose in being present and supportive through life’s milestones and ordinary days alike.
Lloyd worked for many years as a laborer at Morgan Doors in nearby Merrill, contributing to the production of quality building materials with the same diligence he applied to every responsibility. He also worked alongside his brothers in family businesses, including Jolin Plastering and Jolin Lawncare, where he helped provide plastering services and seasonal lawn maintenance to local homes and properties.
These roles reflected his hands-on approach to work and his willingness to collaborate with family to build something lasting. In Wittenberg, many people knew Lloyd from The Olde Dime Store, a local business where he was a regular, often stopping in for supplies or conversation, becoming part of the daily rhythm that defines small-town life. His consistent presence in these settings made him a recognizable and well-liked figure among residents.
Lloyd lived with a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life in rural Wisconsin, finding fulfillment in family time, meaningful work, and the quiet satisfaction of a job well done. He valued loyalty above all, standing by his wife, children, and siblings through every season. His lifestyle emphasized practicality and care for others, whether through helping with family projects or simply being available when needed.
Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home in Wittenberg will host a visitation on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 1-3 p.m., giving friends, family, coworkers, and community members a chance to come together in shared recollection. During this time, family members may remember Lloyd, tell tales of his generosity, and take comfort in the group’s appreciation for the years he lived so completely.
The gathering reflects the respect he earned and the affection he inspired among those who knew him. Through this farewell, the Wittenberg community honors a man whose warmth, hard work, and family-centered spirit leave an enduring mark.
