Lamar Hansel Harrell, a cherished lifelong resident of Bainbridge, Georgia, passed away at his home on December 11, 2025, at the age of 66, concluding a journey marked by hard work, musical talent, and deep devotion to family and faith.
Born on January 14, 1959, in Bainbridge to Leo Jackson Harrell Sr. and Mildred Eaton Harrell, he grew up immersed in the rhythms of Decatur County, attending Bainbridge High School where early friendships and local experiences shaped his grounded perspective. The Bainbridge community reflects on the enduring warmth of a man whose diligent spirit and creative gifts enriched daily life in this historic southern Georgia town.
Harrell dedicated his professional years to the demanding field of construction, excelling in roofing and framing with a strong work ethic that earned respect among peers and clients alike. His hands-on expertise contributed to building and maintaining structures across the area, reflecting a lifestyle of physical labor and practical skill that supported the growth and upkeep of homes in Bainbridge’s residential and rural settings.
Beyond work, Harrell embraced passions that brought joy and expression, avidly following the Atlanta Braves with the enthusiasm of a true fan and finding relaxation on the golf course where swings and camaraderie offered respite. At the core of Harrell’s world was his profound love for family, sharing over 21 years with the love of his life, Scarlett Victoria Harrell, and cherishing roles as father to Brandy Fowler (Tim) of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Bryan Harrell of Bainbridge, along with grandchildren Gavin Fowler and Corbyn Harrell.
He maintained close sibling bonds with Leo (Vicki), Larry (Gloria), and Eloise (Steve) Wacaser, all of Bainbridge, extending affection to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services were held on December 15, 2025, at Cox-Ivey Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Larry Harrell, with interment at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
