It is with great saddness we announce the untimely death of 33-year-old Jonathan Connor Darden of Winnsboro, Louisiana, who passed away on January 1, 2026. Family, friends, and neighbors are very saddened by his unexpected passing as they recall a young guy who provided comfort and light to everyone around him.
Born on November 26, 1992, Jonathan was raised in Winnsboro with close family ties. He gained recognition for his genuineness, gentleness, and quiet strength—qualities that won over everyone he encountered. Those closest to him remember his ability to make people feel appreciated just by being himself, as well as his ability to lighten a room and provide unwavering support at trying times.
His parents, Wendy Pursell and Johnny Darden, as well as his stepmother, Cheryl Darden, survive him. The treasured memories of their chats, laughing, and small gestures that characterized their time together are now held close by his family. Additionally, Jonathan’s grandparents, Joseph Pursell, Butch and Nancy Darden, and Ann Darden, predeceased him and left a lasting legacy.
On January 5, 2026, Jonathan was to be seen at the Chapel of Dennard First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Rev. Craig Beeman conducted a funeral ceremony at the same site. His loved ones gathered at Shady Grove Cemetery to pay tribute to his life and consider the influence he had over the course of his 33 years.
