The residents of the community of Parsons, Tennessee are saddened following the passing of their beloved member Janice Annette Strickland, age 65, who died peacefully at her residence on February 9, 2026. Chester and Annie Arleen Gaddis Strickland welcomed Janice into the world on June 24, 1960, in Mississippi.
A longtime resident of the Parsons area in Decatur County, she became known for her warm personality, lively spirit, and genuine enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures. Her sudden yet peaceful departure has left family, close friends, former colleagues, and neighbors reflecting on a woman whose kindness, humor, and love for people touched many lives in quiet but meaningful ways.
As a devout Catholic, Janice Annette Strickland found solace and strength in her faith, which directed her everyday existence. She enjoyed shopping, getting her nails and hair done, applying cosmetics, and most importantly, conversing. Her captivating anecdotes, quick wit, and genuine interest in others made her a natural conversation starter.
Whether catching up with friends, chatting with neighbors, or sharing moments with family, Janice made people feel heard, valued, and uplifted. Her outgoing nature and joyful approach to everyday life created an atmosphere of lightness and connection wherever she went. In Parsons and the surrounding communities, she was the kind of person who brightened rooms and left others smiling long after she left.
For many years Janice worked as a correctional officer at the Hardin County Correctional Center (formerly Civic Core Correctional Institution), a role that required strength, fairness, and professionalism. She approached her duties with responsibility and care, treating inmates with dignity while maintaining safety and order.
Janice lived with a deep appreciation for family, faith, and the small joys that made life special. She remained close to her siblings, extended relatives, and friends, offering love and support that strengthened those bonds over the years. HIS Church in Selmer, Tennessee will host services for Janice Annette Strickland on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will start at 1:00 p.m. The burial will take place at Tishomingo, Mississippi’s Palestine Cemetery when a reverend will perform the ceremony. In Adamsville, preparations are being handled by Associated Family Funeral Home. This gathering offers family, friends, former colleagues, church family, and community members an opportunity to come together, share memories of her joyful spirit, and give thanks for the gift of her life.
