Jackie Lee “Jack” Heeter, 77, of Leesburg, Indiana, has passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 28, 2025. Born August 13, 1948, in Wabash to Harold and Gladys (Enyeart) Heeter, Jack grew up in northern Indiana, where rural traditions and strong family ties shaped the foundation of his life.
Jack’s later years were spent along the quiet waters of Kuhn Lake, a place that reflected his appreciation for nature and tranquility. The lakeside setting became a backdrop for a life defined by resilience, devotion to family, and a steady sense of pride in his Midwestern roots.
Professionally, Jack devoted more than thirty years to trucking, a career that carried him across countless highways. The independence of the open road suited his character, and his work provided stability for his family. When a serious accident ended his driving career, he faced the change with humor and determination, adapting to new circumstances while holding onto the grit that had always guided him.
Jack also served honorably in the United States Army, an experience that instilled discipline and camaraderie. His commitment to veterans continued long after his service, as he remained active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Syracuse and the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster. These organizations gave him fellowship and purpose, allowing him to share stories and support with others who had served.
Family and friends remember Jack for his quick wit and approachable nature. He had a gift for lightening the mood, often with a well‑timed joke, and his straightforward personality made him easy to be around. Life by the lake suited him—whether enjoying the outdoors or simply appreciating the calm of the water, he found joy in life’s simpler rhythms.
Jack leaves behind a large and loving family: his children Angela Heeter of Fort Wayne, Sherrie (Mark) Hanna of Noblesville, Jack (Stacey) Heeter of Winona Lake, and John (Linda) Heeter of Leesburg; 16 grandchildren; 28 great‑grandchildren; his brother Stephen (Carol) Heeter of Nappanee; his sister Susan (Alan) Borneman of Fishers; and many extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. His legacy lives on in the generations he nurtured and the bonds he built across his lifetime.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home located at 8056 E 500 N in North Webster, Indiana. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m., led by Pastor Glenn Hall, with military honors to recognize Jack’s service to his country.
