Born on January 24, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, to Alexander and Elizabeth Chavas Laszlo, Fran’s life was shaped by devotion, resilience, and a steadfast love that touched generations across Kosciusko County.
Fran graduated from Pinckney High School in 1944 and, just a few years later, married Benjamin John Zahn Jr. on October 8, 1948, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Their marriage lasted nearly five decades until his passing in 1997, forming the cornerstone of her adult life and creating a home grounded in mutual support and shared faith.
In her youth, Fran delighted audiences as a talented singer and embraced roller‑dancing, reflecting her spirited approach to life. These joyful pursuits balanced her creative expression with the nurturing responsibilities she cherished as a homemaker.
Her devotion to family and faith defined her later years. Known affectionately as a “prayer warrior,” Fran was always ready to listen, encourage, and intercede for others. As a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Warsaw, she strengthened spiritual bonds and offered unwavering support to her community.
She is survived by her son Benjamin “John” (Barbara) Zahn III of Grass Lake, Michigan; daughter Sandra (David) Doctor of Warsaw, Indiana; grandchildren Benjamin “BJ” Zahn IV, Heather Zahn, and Lauren Doctor (Paul) Slagle; great‑grandchildren Alyssa Howell (Colin) Jones, Austin Amarro, Kendall Slagle, and Emma Slagle; and sister Victoria Clark of Grand Rapids, Michigan. A private family burial in Ann Arbor, Michigan, entrusted to Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, honored her wish for a quiet farewell among loved ones.
