Back in September 18, 2018, 32‑year‑old Emanuel Boneza, a man of Rwandan descent living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was killed in a shooting incident that began in a ravine in Avalon Borough, Allegheny County. Boneza had been with two acquaintances, Musa Ramadhan Muya and Salim Hamadi Salim, as the three men took turns firing a semi‑automatic pistol Muya had brought with him. At one point, Boneza left to buy beer for the group, being the only one of legal drinking age.
When Boneza returned, a dispute arose over the type of beer he had purchased. Reports indicate that Muya became upset, claiming Boneza had bought the wrong kind. The argument escalated quickly, and Muya allegedly shot Boneza multiple times, fatally wounding him. Witnesses later confirmed that the confrontation was sudden and violent, stemming from what began as a trivial disagreement.
