A beloved resident of Pinehurst, North Carolina, Charles (Chuck) Oscar Moeser, has sadly passed away on December 31, 2025. At the age of 88, Chuck departed peacefully. His life, spanning from the industrial heart of West Virginia to the serene landscapes of the Sandhills, reflected a journey of hard work, education, and unwavering commitment to those around him.
Chuck was born on June 14, 1937, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Oscar F. Moeser and V. Virginia Boliek Moeser. He had a strong work ethic at a young age. For six years as a teenager, he oversaw the Huntington Publishing Company’s morning and evening paper routes while juggling his schoolwork and responsibilities.
After graduating from Huntington East High School in 1955, he went to the University of Cincinnati to study in the Chemical and Metallurgy Department. There, he interned at nearby businesses like International Nickel Company and Standard Ultramarine and Color Company, joined the fraternity Delta Tau Delta, and earned his degree in Metallurgical Engineering in 1960.
Chuck’s professional path showcased his expertise and leadership in engineering and management. Starting at the Buick Motor Division of General Motors in Flint, Michigan, he advanced through roles that took his family to Zanesville, Ohio, where he rose to Vice President at Burnham Corporation. In 1985, he relocated to Seven Lakes, North Carolina, eventually purchasing and managing Matthews Market in Pinehurst for 14 years until retirement in 2001, after which he ran a small home repair business, applying his practical skills to help others in everyday ways.
Deeply involved in his faith community, Chuck was an active church member wherever life took him, particularly at Pinehurst United Methodist Church. There, he served faithfully as an usher, a member of the Church Council, and assistant financial secretary, while also contributing as a board member for Family Promise, an organization supporting families in need. His quiet generosity and steadfast presence embodied a lifestyle rooted in service, compassion, and integrity that inspired those who knew him.
Chuck’s life, marked by achievement, love, and community spirit, leaves an enduring tribute to a man who lived with purpose and grace. Though his passing brings sorrow, his example of diligence in work, devotion to family, and commitment to faith will continue to guide his loved ones. A memorial service celebrating his life is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Pinehurst United Methodist Church, followed by interment in the church’s Memorial Garden, officiated by Jabe Largen.
