The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office and Medical Examiner’s Office have identified the man killed Friday evening in a San Marcos pedestrian collision as 27-year-old Benshan Frankte Robinson, a resident of San Diego whose death remains under active investigation by authorities.
Deputies from the sheriff’s San Marcos Station responded to reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash at approximately 7:50 p.m. on February 6, 2026, in the 1100 block of West Mission Road, near its intersection with North Las Posas Road in North San Diego County. Upon arrival, officers found Robinson lying in the westbound lanes of West Mission Road, having been struck by a black Honda Odyssey minivan.
Deputies and paramedics immediately initiated life-saving measures at the scene in an effort to resuscitate the critically injured pedestrian, but despite their rapid response and medical intervention, Robinson was pronounced deceased at approximately 8:15 p.m. The driver of the Honda minivan remained at the crash site following the collision and has fully cooperated with investigators, according to sheriff’s officials.
